YDL not displaying in 1080i nor 720p fullscreen

I searched the forums for an answer, bu was unable to find it.

I installed YDL yesterday and it went smoothly. Default resolution is at 720p which has the black borders.

My TV is capable of displaying 1080i, which is the resolution the PS3-OS uses.
But when i try to use ps3videomode -v 4, the display is all screwed up.
I get like 3 interlaced desktops at the the of my screen which are messed up.
I cant do anything with that.

Also i tried to use the 720p fullscreenmode, but then i get another weird thing.
The display is shifted to the right somehow, resulting in a split screen.
That is also not usable.

Am i the only one with these specific problems regarding videomode?
Could it be that my TV needs some tweaking or something?

I really would like to use the 1080i fullscreen mode obviously.
Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks

If you get a split screen simply log out and log back in.

Changing resolution to 720p in YDL

First of all, I installed linux in text mode on a crappy old non-HD tv, then had to edit my kboot file to run the graphical interface. I switched my PS3 over to a 23" Sony HDTV and YDL is running fine but I'm having trouble switching to a higher resolution "720p".

My kboot.conf file looked like the one below. Then I changed the default to "ydl720p" the second setting from "ydl1080i" to "ydl720p" but was unsure of what to change the mode to. I thought I read that the default was 3 so I tried that. I exit, run "startx" and my graphical interface boots up back in 480i. Do I have to edit a another file? Use another mode? Also this screen is a non-widescreen HDTV if that make a difference. Thanks!

Thx 12blade21, it works. Didn't know that it must be changed on kboot.

12blade21, my tv is a Philips 32PF9641. It is a european PAL LCD HD-ready TV.

I tried some settings in its menu, but thats not helping so far. If you could point me in the right direction or if you could tell me how similar tv's can solve this problem i would be very, very grateful.
