I don't want to void my warranty by adding a mod chip in my ps3. I just want to be able to have linux by going to some site and downloading it there, from my ps3.
You don't need to modify your PS3 to run Linux.. just install it as the OtherOS (which is what Sony tells you to do) and all is well. There are plenty of guides for this on the Forum here (stickys, threads) and also in the PS3 Linux/Tutorials section.
