GUIDE: UDF 2.5 Support on PS3 Linux - BluRay and HD-DVD Mountability

hey hacked i'm hoping you can help - i was following your guide to the letter, got up to the 'make modules' and it seemed to break down halfway through

fs/udf/super.c:1327: error: request for member ‘s_dup_md_flag’ in something not a structure or union

then i tried module_install anyway and it didn't go anywhere - so any thoughts you have would be great - everything else was working just fine

also is it strange that i can access ps3 game files (after mounting) like any other file (hdd etc) but bluray movies are completely unreadable - i mean that's why i'm following your guide to be able to read them - but i just thought it was weird to be able to see games straight off the bat

Hey HACKED2123 i just finished the UDF 2.5 install but man when i was rebooting the ps3 gives me an error something like this:"/init: /etc/kboot .conf: 10:Syntax error: Undeterminated quated string" what can i do? :?? and i dont know ao to put back to the ps3 os to format the hdd :eek2 please help thanks!

I don't honestly know why that error is occurring you are the 5th that i heard of. It either has to do with a newer version of the kernel being replaced or a newer firmware version that is incompatible with the kernel settings.

As for setting it depends on your firmware. The easiest would probably be redoing all the steps to the initial set-up of OtherOs.

If you get another chance at it try to double check/cross-reference what you typed for kboot.conf, wish I could figure it out myself, but am not changing a thing on my end because of the off chance I too lose UDF 2.5 support.

Sorry man but ill not try to this anymore cause after that error my PS3 jamed (it didnt turn on anymore) and because it still got warranty i went to the shop and exchange for a new one so ill forget for now all this Linux thing on ps3. By the way is there any way to reset the ps3 from "outside"? but THANKS anyway

:Important This UDF 2.5 guide has become a hazard. I strongly encourage all who wish install it use the earliest versions of OtherOS.bld, OtherOS.self, and either Fedora Core 5 or YDL. AGAIN USE OLDEST AVAILABLE YDL AND FC5. Although it shouldn't matter, lower firmware will increase your chance of success.

Maybe this question was ask already, if that is the case, my apology for asking again. I follow the UDF 2.5 guide and get it working in YDL5.0. But them I change my ps3 hd for a bigger one so I can store movies on it. So I had to re-install YDL 5.0 and them I upgrade to the YDL 5.1 for WIFI support which is working great.

The question is if anyone have the UDF 2.5 working with the latest YDL upgrade for WIFI and the latest firmeware?

I installed the udf driver yesterday and it worked fine. I connected the hd-dvd from xbox onto the ps3 and linux recognised it automatically. I could then see the whole directory structure and tried to play it with mplayer after installing it succesfully but the EVO files where not viewable. Any solutions ?

chupalo i pm-ed hacked2123 about this... no response. you can modify in the kboot.conf the default value of boot, and switch from wifi to udf and vise-versa. But i don't know... is there a way to patch the kernel so we can have wifi and udf support?
