Beyond that ignore the errors (warnings rather)... and things will work, it's worked plenty already... if you have a point you can't go further, just put a post. |

I have version 1.54 on my ps3, if that matters. I installed YDL (using the yellowdog-5.0-phoenix-20061208-PS3.iso), and then I didn't do anything else except follow your guide from post 1 (I've read thru this thread a few times of course). I've tried a few times now, with the exact same results. I can view my external usb ntfs hdd just fine, but I cannot write to it (access denied). I'm logged in as root and using the default(?) enlightenment desktop - though using GNOME is no different. But that leads to another issue, which I haven't looked into yet - when I start the session in gnome, I get the following error: "No '/dev/pmu' device found". I can read/copy from the BluRay drive and from my external hdd - I just can't write to it. I'm not sure what the kernel-2.6.16-ppc64-ps3.config is supposed to look like, but the lines referencing NTFS from that file end up being set like this: CONFIG_NTFS_FS=m # CONFIG_NTFS_DEBUG is not set # CONFIG_NTFS_RW is not set And at step 7.9 when I click Yes and get back to the terminal window from the blue Kernel config window, this is what I see ... not sure if this is relevant: ... HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/lxdialog/yesno.o HOSTLD scripts/kconfig/lxdialog/lxdialog scripts/kconfig/mconf arch/powerpc/Kconfig kernel-2.6.16-ppc64-ps3.config:1312:warning: trying to assign nonexistent symbol SQUASHFS kernel-2.6.16-ppc64-ps3.config:1313:warning: trying to assign nonexistent symbol SQUASHFS_EMBEDDED kernel-2.6.16-ppc64-ps3.config:1314:warning: trying to assign nonexistent symbol SQUASHFS_FRAGMENT_CACHE_SIZE kernel-2.6.16-ppc64-ps3.config:1315:warning: trying to assign nonexistent symbol SQUASHFS_VMALLOC *** End of Linux kernel configuration. *** Execute 'make' to build the kernel or try 'make help'. I've gotten that each time I've tried this. I'm following the guide exactly. I have RedHat installed on an old pc of mine, and I've used it as a test webserver for a while - but I am quite a linux newb (the damn thing has always just worked, so I haven't done much to it that wasn't done thru webmin). Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? |
