Question Does Dumping PS3 games command still work on FW1.5?

I try it on PS3 Firmware 1.5 with YDL5.0. I input the command dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/imagename.img then hit enter, nothing happen. Does anyone try this yet? or Did I do something wrong?

Well, it will appear to be frozen (just a blinking line) for a while (30 minutes+), depending on the ISO size etc, it will eventually finish, saying how large the data was that it copied!

I've done it. I put the command in the wrong place, Main (blue dog) --> run command. Now I went to the correct one, Gnome Terminal, input command then I see the blinking cursor and the growing file.

Thanks to all.

I updated to 1.5 already, and try to dump ISO follow the vkr95 tutorial

Yellow Dog Linux:
1. (I Think) Click on the Dog on the left corner.
2. command Prompt.

I did follow the tutorial, nothing happen. So that why I come and ask FW1.5 still work with the dumping command?

noover, whats the exact command your using for dumping?

hycraig, its very simple, connect your USB device

type : fdisk -l

should show "/dev/sdc1 40gb" (or something along those lines), find the one that matches your drive.

then do a mkdir /mnt/exthdd
then a mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/exthdd

(where /dev/sdc1 = your hdd), then your DD is -> dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/mnt/exthdd/game.iso

The issue is , the HDD must be formatted EXT3, NTFS write = dont work by default, and FAT32 = too small!
