PS3 remote in YDL with VLC?

lettuce read the thread with the information it's very simple to follow. Only sticky piece is setting up the actual networking options as they aren't as simple as clicking in window$

Anyone know if this works? I have the media software all working in linux, not just looking at enhancing it. Also is anyone using a USB TV adaptor with mythtv?

Edit: As i mentioned above i was having problems using yum installer to complete the tutorial. This only appears to affect the mplayer gui piece of the install. I had initially deleted the livna repos file from the yum.repos.d and it allowed everything else to install without error. I have now done some digging and it appears that the livna url isn't very well maintained and has been down for a while.

I have found a mirror site which let me continue with the mplayer-gui install. If you edit the livna-ppc.repo file and replace the url with http://mirror.atrpms.net/livna/fedora/5/ppc/ it all works again.

Enjoy!
Ian

hi all,

I can get mplayer to work through command but its throught the gui i keep facing problems. after i install the gui and try to open a file the audio is muffled and its says it can't detect the video driver.

I changed the driver name to sdl but still no luck. i dont know if this is important but when i open up etc/mplayer i see to types of mplayer.conf

1) mplayer.conf
2) mplayer.###.conf

cheers

I'm having a problem getting the sixaxis working with snes9x, I can maps the buttons fine but when I hit the power button snes9x crashes and gives me the error output file that I've posted below. If I uncheck "use joystick" in snes9x the program works fine, but when I try to use my sixaxis via usb cable it crashes.

Can anyone help me?

Code:
/home/shenmue/Desktop/snes/snes9x/snes9x -r 7 -joymap1 13 14 12 15 10 11 3 0 /home/shenmuje/Desktop/snes/roms/junglestrike.smc
snes9x: S9xUsage: snes9x <options> <rom image filename>

Where <options> can be:
( I deleted the options from this post to keep it shorter)

snes9x returned error code 1

I'm guessing you need to be connected to the internet to update these players ? Cause i tried the commands and they didn't do anything so i tried and copy the lines by opening firefox on my ps3 but it couldn't connect, i found out that while i can acces the web browser on the xmb i can't seem to make a connection in linux.

It says i need to check the cables but it's a wireless connection... any idea what i should do ? should i aslo enter dsn servers etc in linux ? (hope you guys understand, or should i give more info ?)

dud0r,

There are other threads on setting up networking in YDL. Essentially you need to manually populate every piece of information incl DNS and allocating an IP address.
