    [Answered] What does PS3 nand/nor mean help?

    hello every one.. i'm new to ps3 jailbreak scene!!

    can anybody tell me what does nand/nor means and what they do?

    Well technically It Means:

    NAND = NOT Gate + AND Gate.
    NOR = NOT Gate + OR Gate.

    These NAND or NOR hold PS3s FW.

    Its the type of flash chip in your ps3 that holds all or part of your firmware. Older fat models have nand and hold all the firmware.

    While the newer slims have nor, half firmware on flash and the rest on the harddrive. No idea why sony changed, guess nor is cheaper ?

    A few fat PS3s also have NOR and yeah, It's cheaper.

    A quick history lesson the old phat PS3s had the NAND chips in them that is 20 GB 60 GB 40 GB the newer systems have the NOR chip those are the 80 GB and upwards, SLIMS etc
