What is the best way to hook up a ps3 to a 720p,1080i set

I don't use a HDMI switch unfortunately.

We have 4 port hdmi switchbox's in at work, I'll ask how much tomorrow and see how cheap i can get hold of one for you.

I can, yes.

I imported mine from the middle east via a friend. I paid for the convenience though.

I'd recommend simply getting one via ebay, roughly the same cost just less secure

If you want one through me let me know.
