Weird problem with opensplit help?

ok so i'm using a mac but the 3 versions of open split that i try and open appear the minimize to a small square at the top of the screen and i cant split anything I don't know what to do i've tried downloading new copies but the same thing and java updates etc just nothing, I need help with this
