    [Answered] Replacing HDD with 3.42 or 3.5?

    I'll be buying a used ps3. if it has 3.5 or 3.42 installed could i just replace HDD with a new one and then install 3.41?

    Nope, downgrading is not possible at the moment. Everytime when you install a newer FW, it overwrites your system controller (NAND), which is not on the HDD. So, PS3 only accepts a firmware to be installed if it's newer than the version from your system controller.
