PSX to PC Radioshack adapter works on PS3

im using a kiky x adapter on my ps3 and it seems that my buttons (not directional) are inverted. is there a reason for this? Anyways As i was messing around with my dualshock 2 playing the ps3 version of nba 2k7 i bumped my ds2 on a wall due to frustration on a freethrow attempt and then i actually made it. that shot had something to do with the controller and im seeing if i could possibly turn my ds2 into a sixaxis.

my adapter worked in Resistance, but the right analog stick had the X and Y axis swapped. in the game i could only invert the Y-axis, so it wasn't usable.

i dont remember the name of my adapter, but i just got it for $2 online at some video game store.
