PS3 Slim Laser replacement issue help?

Hi all I'm new to the site but have known about it for a while now. I'm in need of help/advice/suggestions. Thank you in advance.

I have a PS3 slim CECH 2001a. The laser died out about 2 weeks ago. I ordered a new laser and placed it in the drive. Plugged up the system and the laser read the game already in the drive. However, the eject mechanism was not working. I manually ejected the disc and reset the eject mechanism.

The problem is now, the new laser is not reading disc now. In fact it spins the disc, I can hear some clicking as if it's trying to read the disc, then it makes the eject noise and repeats the process. I've taken apart the blu-ray drive and made sure I had all ribbons in securely. I'm not sure what the problem could be now

Did you reset the drive loading mechanism?
