PS3 Firmware and Drive?

Is it possible to update a Ps3's Firware with broken drive I have an old PS3 dead drive: FW 2.5 I wanted to update to 3.41 to JB
Will this work ?

I don't think it will work but Try it, never hurts to try! If it don't work then you have your answer! If it was me, I wouldn't update straight to 3.41. I would update in the order they were originally released just to be safe. 2.5 - 2.52 - 2.53 - 2.60 - 2.70 - 2.76 - 2.80 - 3.00 - 3.01 - 3.10 - 3.15 - 3.21 - 3.30 - 3.40 - 3.41

Yes it's possible to update but your drive needs to be in the console when updating, bcz if you update without bluray drive your ps3 will brick.
