PS3 80 gig how to downgrade help?

Just wondering as want to downgrade in order to put on CFW but CFW guides mention backups.

Also do I need the ESata station? Only got regular one.

what i read is you do need the station to use it but you have to make a back-up of your flash when you put the flasher on the ps3 BEFORE you try to downgrade the system. because you have to make sure its a valid dump of your flash first or else it will brick and i think you cant fix that type of brick
