ps2 controller on ps3

Why did they have to make it so that you have to press the PS button when playing a ps2 game on the ps3?

WHY?

i got a ps2 to ps3 controller adapter went to gamestop and got some good oldies for ps2.

got home, put in a ps2 game pluged in the ps2 controller and ...
NOTHING.

i couldent play the ps2 game with my dualshock2.

Well at least you found out that way. I bought Guitar Hero II before I found out you couldnt hook up PS2 controllers. And since I bought it from Circuit City I couldnt get a refund so I had to sell it on eBay. Lesson learned.

does a PS2 controller vibrate when you play PS3 games like Resistance?

Havent tried it but, probably not, since i doubt that they have vibration code in the game.

Because the controller does not get recegnized at all until you press the PS button on that controller and guess what? the dualshock 2 dont have one :s

Sony will be fixing this in May when they release their PS2-to-PS3 adapter. After all, how would Sony make money if you could just buy any old adapter and use it on the PS3?

The nyko ps2-to-usb adapter has already claimed to fix this, and nyko has finally updated their website with information. They specifically mention guitars working with guitar hero.

So a PS2 controller connected to a PS3 through an adapter only works with PS3 games and not PS2 games. That's pretty backwards lol
