ps2 in 250gb ps3?

I just got my son a 250gb ps3. He has over a hundred ps2 games, is there any way to play these in the ps3? Forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, I am completely new to this. Thanks for any and all help.

no unless you have the backward compatible one that has 4 usb port

As stated above. Only backwards compatible models allow for PS2 software to run. However, the concept of us (the PCSX2 team) bringing our emulator to PS3 is in discussion. It would take a considerable amount of time and work, but the possibility does exist. So if your PS3 is jailbroken/jailbreakable, then this may become an option for you later on if you don't have a BC model.
