    [Answered] prevent ps3 from updating

    Sponsored Links
    Hi,

I want my ps3 to be able to browse my home network etc, but I want to prevent any firmware update. I've entered a bogus dns server in the ps3 internet settings and that seems to do the trick. Is this safe enough or will Sony be able to update my ps3 through other evil means?

Bonus question: I reckon it would be impossible for me to go online without risking an update, right?

    thanks in advance

Sony will not automatically update your ps3's firmware. You have to accept the EULA before every firmware update.

You can go online with firmware 3.41, meaning you will be able use the web browser for browsing the net. You will not be able to go on PSN without updating to 3.42
