the latest ps3 update should allow you to watch those formats

and as for transfering, you can burn onto cd or use a memery stuck or usb pen, and also use a media server from your pc to stream files as you watch/play them on your ps3, this saves tranfering files onto your ps3 and saves space on it as well!!
