New ps3 owner, need some general help please

Ok newbie was in bold on this section of the forum so here i am. So i just got my ps3 like a week ago and own like three games. I finally watched some random videos today and came across this site. I was bombarded with new information on videos about all sorts of different stuff you can do with the ps3, with stuff from the japanese store to free full and demo games. Since im new to all this im wondering:
1. youre telling me theres a way to transfer full and demo games from pc to ps3?
2. i can access exclusive demos and such from the japanese store from my
ps3?
3. i can play any ps2 games i own right now on disk or can find online with my computer on my ps3?

any help would be appreciated as i always get lost in sites like this, too much information at once kind of makes me shut down when were not talking about ipods :/

edit: also what is the difference between PAL and NTSC(is that correct?) versions of the ps3? and if it helps im on the latest firmware of the ps3, and my wifi situation is kind of weird. My neighbor lets me use her wifi for my laptop, ipod, and ps3 and doesnt care, but my computer is on a wired connection but i guess i can always connect to the wifi (i saw random stuff about this when connecting to the ps3 or something)

Welcome aboard, here are some brief answers:

This was done via the PS Proxy Method, however, it was blocked by Sony on PS3 Firmware 2.4+... all you are able to do is download the files from then on, installing them will only generate an error.

You can run PS2 iSOs on the PS3 if your PS3 has (4) USB Ports... which means it supports PS2 emulation. Some guides:

The PS3 is region-free for games, however, most movies are region-coded. Also, PS3 Firmware updates are region-free so you can download them from US/EU servers to update your PS3 console.

Thank you. My next question would have to be, then what is this section for: ps3news.com/subdomain.php?pagename=psn
pre 2.4 firmwares? and is it plausible for someone (like me) who has no idea what they're doing to go pre 2.4?

For now, yes.. it's just an archive for people who use it similar to what NFO.PS3News.com is for PS3 iSO releases which aren't playable yet. Hopefully at some point in the future, both the PSN links and PS3 releases will be of use but until then we will just continue updating them as always.

Finally, if your PS3 is 2.4+ then ya sadly you are SOL... as there is no way to downgrade it at this time (even with an Infectus chip you can't).
