    how to download new firmware? because my ps3 firmware 2.17 and i want to upgrade it.my friend's ps3 can play ps3 games from HDD.

    You can use the system update option of you have internet.

    If you haven't internet, just download the firmware at your frined home and copy it on a usb key.
