    Confused [Answered] Modifying PS3 packages for OFW help?

    I'll make it short n sweet:

    I'm working on an Official firmware. No custom firmware can be used here. I have a package that contains retail data. It is an update package for a racing game.

    All I need to do is modify a few bytes of a file in USRDIR within the package. How do I do this and still have the ability to install the new file?

    I know that the only way to get it to the PS3 is by proxy-ing the data over. But will the PS3 even install the data if the package has been modified?

    I don't think it will, because we don't have the proper keysets for installing packages on OFW...
    Am I correct? What can I do in this situation?

    Yes, the key used for signing packages up to 3.55 was calculated due to the security flaw. Sony patched that bug, so there is no way to calculate private key for signing 3.55+ stuff.

    And that key was blacklisted in 3.55+ FW (or something, IIRC)

    Yes, if you're above 3.55 OFW, the keyset used for resigning is blacklisted, IIRC.

    So you're saying that this is not possible at the moment. Correct?

    Have you heard of any other methods of moving game patches to the PS3?

    Like, instead of signing a PKG correctly, is there perhaps a way to rig a savegame to write something to the PS3's memory?

    Sorry for sounding noob-ish, I haven't been on this site in ages
