Correct me if I'm wrong but seeing as it will not run under gameos and should not require the use of RSX I don't see why it would not work on all firmwares...

The Keyvault project runs through OtherOS, and it will work on every firmware released (currently).

In regards to downgrading your firmware, use an Infectus to make a backup of your old firmware, then upgrade, and then you can downgrade.

It was a project the resident PS3 Devs were working on to do a distributed attack on the PS3 in attempt to gain the KV names and values so they could reconstruct their own. If you check the "comments" and "here" links from this page you can read more detailed information on it: http://keyvault.ps3news.com

As of a few days ago, the project was put on hold due to some significant progress in other areas of the PS3... so in summary, the resident PS3 Devs now feel they have found a better path to unlocking the PS3.

Only Part 1 was posted thus far... check the side margin for the PS3 Dev stuff. CJPC plans to update their progress soon (hopefully tonight), but for the most part what is posted is delayed as they are focusing on the work itself.
