ok i have 3.55 system update on my ps3. does anyone know if you could pull the cmos battery out and then reformat your hard drive on the the computer or no? i don't want to mess my ps3 up so if anyone wants to give it a try that'd be sweet lol

That wouldn't accomplish anything aside from resetting your system clock, and emptying your HDD. You will still need to re-install the 3.55 update.
don't do that, you ps3 will still be on 3.55 fw, if you do that on a slim model, you con possibly go very wrong. There's not yet a downgradable fw for 3.55 (soon will be, just wait and see)
If your Ps3 comes from factory in fw 3.50, srry dude, but you will not be able to downgrade to fw 3.41 or any other. This news ps3s models comes with some security changes to not be able to downgrade below 3.5
Maybe soon with a cfw 3.5 you will be able to unlock your system.
Ok because of the upgrade to 3.55 I am screwed up now and just have to hang tight and wait for a fix, is this irrespective of the model? I have a CECHG01 that I bought in 2007.
