Game updates outside the PSN help?

Hi everybody.

I'm a technologically retarded ps3 player. All I can do with the ps3 is play games and on the PC its work and use google.

At home I have a problem with a very slow and unstable internet connection, so can't really connect the ps3 to the internet, much less update games.

I bought the F1 2010 game and now cannot update it for nothing in the world.

Finally, my question is: Can I update this game downloading the update file from the internet and transfer it using an flashdrive?

I've seen a method described here, where you install some kind of PS3 server on the pc, but got my rear kicked three ways till sunday by Windows Vista.

Might there be an easier way for the technologically challenged?

if your not on a JB system, then I think you best bet would be to get that PS3 on an internet connection that would allow you to update your games.
