Error has occured (80030001) during loading of GTAIV

I have tried with COD 4 and everything seems to load fine

Reading else where some other people have had this problem but other places suggest error 80030001 is a inbox issue.

When starting up GTAIV the 80030001 error happens twice during the loading screen and then tries to start a new game and happens again whilst trying to save. The cinematic to start off the new game also has audio just no video

any suggestions?

80030001 means the game data on the hard drive is corrupt. delete it and reinstall the game. if that fails you MUST reformat the whole ps3 hard drive. so back up your data.

cheers man, but if the game data is corrupt does that mean the saved files are busted as well?

it is possible, if i were you i'd back up all game saves to a usb stick and do a full format. if the saves are corrupt then there isn't much you can do. this could be a sign of hard drive failure soon to come.

Tried to back up but repeatly got a 8001002A error.

not good your hard drive is corrupt for sure. copy what you can (doesn't give you that error) to an external drive and format. you have no other course of action.

i would recommend replacing the hard drive it sounds like its physically failing.

pfft being a student i'd rather wait, i've formatted it so if that doesnt work i'll have to replace the hard drive but only as a last resort and when i've found a job at university.
