Downgrade PS3 with Infectus?

I just read a couple threads on being able to downgrade a PS3 with just the Infectus mod chip through USB alone. Now, this obviously sounds farfetched, but it seems credible. Can anyone correct me on this or give me info please? I was wondering since I have a 60GB lying around that I would like to downgrade, so anyone who can shed light to me, will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You have to solder the chip to the NAND chips. There is no way that I know of right now to downgrade through the USB. That chip connects through USB on the computer. But you do have to solder. Thanks
