I have a theory to the answer of these demo codes, as well as firmware versions.
When the PS3 checks for updates (ps3-updatelist.txt) - It has 2 software version areas.
A hex version: example 00000ee8 (version 2.60 FW)
and a plain-text version (which doesn't matter what the number says): 2.60 or 2.80, whatever you have.
If we can compile a list of these HEX version strings - We may have some kind of key to unlock different firmwares.
Is there a URL for DEBUG consoles? I'd love to get some from that.
I've seen the demo update list, just a bunch of countries with different update images.
the HEX is what the PS3 checks for. the Number can be anything.
I put DEBUGLOL in place of the numbers, and the 2.60 HEX was left alone, the PS3 didn't complain.
We need to get our hands on these HEX codes so we can generate a way to install different KINDS of firmware on our PS3.
Like TEST FW on RETAIL / etc.

This is all I can answer from the above, but sadly there is not. We too wish there was a Debug Updater link like the Retail and Demo has, as then getting the Debug Firmware updates would be a lot easier than waiting for leaks.
