Capturing PS3 Games?

Hi, I own a Hauppauge HD-PVR 1212 and I was trying to record some game vids on it but I discovered that using my SPDIF did not work for some reason during gameplay.

When I set it all up, the sound works perfect during the menu screens, but as soon as I load a game up, the sound does not work anymore on my TV, I do not understand how this is possible and would like to know if anyone has a solution for this problem?
