can you hex edit the update files?

hi,

i installed 2.40 and its messed my system up. i was having a look in some old updates i have on my harddrive, and i can see the firmware number using hexedit if i change that number to 2.41 will it install and the firmware and think its new?

i know it probably wont work but thought id ask just in case..

no its wont work... just see corrupted file into ps3.

you can change it, but you can not install it friends.
