can ps3 play .mov media?

i tried to play .ts media with changing .ts to .mpg, it's working.

is there any way to play .mov without conversion?

No I dont think you can. The compression of .mov files are different than other files. I know if you have quicktime pro you can export a .mov into a different file type but just changing the file extension no you can't play .mov on a ps3.
