bypassing firmware updates

I assume using backup manager to load games doesnt bypass the firmware checks? I believe there were ways to bypass firmware checks before the ps3 was jailbroken. Is there a different method to use now that the ps3 is jailbroken?

At the moment there is no new way to do it unfortunately.
