does the 60gb have ANYTHING different software wise to the 40gb?

because apparently the 40gb has files in it for ps2 emulation etc they're just not in use etc.

The 40GB doesn't have the hardware (emulation engine) so it can't play PS2 games regardless that it has the software.

The software is the same for all models with no differences at all, the 60GB can play PS2 games because it has the hardware to and has no effect with the software.

The 60 gig allows for the EE and Card Readers to be enabled.

The firmware isn't different, only the hardware.. the same modules will be installed regardless of the hardware detection.

You can download the PS2 emulation software from PSN, therefore any model could have those files.
