Hi all, quite a while a go i upgraded my ps3 hdd which i think was a 40gb to a 500gb, i had fw v3.15, I'm sure i had pretty much all of the space usable, anyway i have upgraded my system to 3.41, but now my HDD says 298gb? What's going on?

Few days ago many people have reported that they are unable to upgrade their ps3 hdds after updating to 3.41 fw so your problem might be related to 3.41 fw update. So download 3.41 fw fix which sony have already released.

Are you sure it's a 500GB drive? 298GB is the amount shown when you have a 320GB drive installed.

    These fails can be :

    1. Your HDD is a cheap imitate from China, I know some buys from a 16GB USB-Stick where just 256MB was space on.
    2. A lot of clusters are damaged on your HDD.
    3. Your PS3 shows fails.

    What i should do :

    1. Look on the HDD, if there stands 500GB.
    2. Format your HDD via PS3.

These 2 things everybody can do, without any technical knowledge.

    Good Luck !

do you happen to have any links to said reports? it really is interesting, i was a bit skeptical about the two versions of 3.41 in terms of jailbreaking ability
