It does work with some usb hdds formatted to FAT32. It all depends if it´s compatible.

Can someone explain to me, why is that almost everywhere i see it says that it wont work on PS3 with software emulation but my PAL 60 Gb that is Software Emulation, works fine?

I just checked on Wikipedia and all PAL PS3's are Software Emulation only. So basically it should work on NTSC Software Emulation consoles too?

Another question, is there a list of external HDD's that work?
And if load speed will be faster then from USB?

I use the most expensive and fastest Sandisk USB, Cruzer Contour and formatted with 64KB blocks to speed up it even more, still FF XII (with compatibility hack) movies are sluggish.

The usbloader for ps3 is supposed to only run at usb1.0 or 1.1 speed isnt it? I dont think the speed of the drive will affect anything.

Its 1.1 your right, i decided to go with Switch Mod.
