Boost your loading speed with a change in hdds speed
hello to everyone,
if you want to have faster load times, you can install a faster hdd (7200 rpm) in your ps3. as you know ps3's hdd is a 5400 rpm so by changing it to 7200 rpm, you can improve your loading speeds.
Getting a HD with a bigger Cache, gives more performance boost, then a HD that spins more rpm.
the cache will just boost the speed of loading those files has been loaded once a time but the rpm will speed up the loading of every file in hdd. this is the difference between the cache and rpm.

HDD throughput in the ps3 = capped, latency is not
friends you can test this: take a devil may cry 4 and install game in hdd and take time for loading game and then you must take time with standard hdd ps3 (hdd 5400rpm).
I remeber readding a reivew on IGN regarding replacing 5400 RPM HDD's with 7200RPM ones. They tested with a lot of games and the best speed boost they got was under 2 sec's in Devil May Cry. Rest all games the difference was between 0-1.5 sec. Their criteria for the test was same system. Same games. Same method of install. Only HDD different.
I guess that amount of speed up is not worth paying more for at the moment. Once the larger capacity HDD come into play. I know i'll go for more storage than RPM.
