People keep talking about going back to the XMB, surely once you do that even through the exploit whatever content you try and launch through the XMB it will still do its firmware check... right?

Yea true lol I guess the rule is assume nothing but that would also include expecting to launch higher firmware content from the XMB lol

I doubt for example I could use the RFOM exploit to somehow get back to the XMB then pop in Spiderman 3 which is 1.54 and expect it to run.

I would love to be proved wrong though lol!

EDIT: Plus with the TOC thing it wouldnt matter because A) RFOM has a higher TOC than anything we've tried booting and B) The swap is too an original so a TOC refresh wouldnt matter lol we'd have to try a BD-R.

Hmm I did some testing with ps2 games and backups. I tried going online with a ps2 game, and then go log off than pop in the backup. But it just locked up on me. Someone will figure something out hopefully.

Oblivion Save Game = BCUS98107-SAVE-1
How to check the gamesave folder and if it is possible to rename the folder? Thanks.

On the Save Data, press triangle and select COPY, use a PenDrive or a PSP to store the files, then use Explorer to get the folder names. I don't know if it work after rename and copy back to PS3. Probably not.

Something like: RFOM > COD3 > XMB > Ninja Gaiden Demo.

Just kidding!

This should (in theory) defeat the HDCP protection without the need for additional hardware, can someone please confirm.

Ie: The rfom exploit should allow you to run the PS3 console on DVI monitors without high-def copy protection ;-)

Sorry to bring this post back up.

Is this by going back to the XMB Hack? If so how do you get back to the XMB and what effect does it have?

Question

How should that deactivate hdcp? I mean to skip a firmware check this is in terms of logic easy to understand but how hdcp?
