Nope - this is the specific GAME's requirement as at which FW it would run - not the PS3's firmware version in general.
I don't understand people some time. Its one thing to play a backup or a downloaded game but its another to have to play that same game online. If you want to play online I think you should buy the game and if you don't and they ban you than dont cry to the developers to figure out how to un-ban you. Its not their job and you were warned.

have you tried adding 1080p to games that don't support it? for example: what happens if you add 1080p to little big planet? Does it change?

It will not change the resolution, that's coded into the game itself. You would have to totally rebuild the game to do something like that.
