    Video: MFW - The First Running ModFirmWare for PlayStation 3

    Today Dark_Monkey of German site PSPKing.de (linked above) has posted a video of what he calls MFW - the first running ModFirmWare for Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

    There is no release yet, but below is the proof-of-concept video and some details, roughly translated as follows:

    After a few days I've finally done it:

    A stable current with MFW Homebrew channel although with a few bugs but zlib is also only in Betastatium.

    Have fun with the video. Download will come in a few days!

    As always Gildete: You can keep all my Rahtshriebfaler

    Now I read that it does not have extra CFW MFW rather someone and then something :-(

    Download is available in a few days... For normal users, of course, only USBLoader loaded and final.

    Changelog:

    rev b0.01
    - Project started
    - Homebrewchannle

    rev b0.02 rev b0.02
    - Small bugfix
    - Download button "Backup Manager"

    rev b0.03 rev b0.03
    - /app_Host/PS3_Game icon now Ps1-disc icon

    Nice. What firmware is it bases on? I'm guessing 3.41?

    No, hopefully it'll be based on 3.50 so we can get easy latest games working without the need for patches/debugs

    what is that?

    does it load some part of 3.50FW from USB to be able to run 3.50 games? Or it's just another 1001th mod of open manager?

    neither description nor video gives any hints what is that.

    To all:

    It's based on 3.41 Firmware like you see in the first 2 seconds of the video.
    Let's wait for the REAL CFW coming very soon.

    I just looked at the video. All that is is the TV thread renamed and homebrew edited to run from that thread.
    It's really easy to do. I have my homebrew in the network thread. Easy as edit the PARAM.SFO

    Where it says "Data Type" change it to one of these for the thread to put it in.

    AM = Music
    AV = Video
    AT = TV
    CB = Internet
    HM = Network
    HG = Games

    Then run it and when it goes back to the XMB it will be in the thread you choose.

    I thought it was some sort of CFW but it doesn't look like it.

    I was just going to say the same. Custom menu is pretty far from custom firmware in my opinion.

    It's not even a custom menu, its just editing the homebrew.

    Do what I said above and you can do the same.
