Tried again but still no dice. However this time the remarry program DID Pass successfully, it just wouldn't play the BluRay in factory service mode afterwards

Following up on their previous 3.55 release, today the anonymous PlayStation 3 developers have shared details on remarrying PS3 Blu-ray drives on Firmware 3.15 and 3.50 without the need for downgrading the consoles.

Changes: Small error fixed, FDM is resigned proper now for all versions (3.15, 3.50, 3.55)

Remarry guide for 3.15 firmware

1. Have the console on a working 3.15 firmware

2. Download the Remarry files (remarry-3.15.rar) and unpack to root of USM Mass Storage device. The following line is already changed from 1 to 0:

This will make sure the drive init PUP is not installed, thus preventing RLOD because of syscon hashes on downgraded consoles.

3. Download official firmware <=3.30 as drive init PUP and put it root of USB Mass Storage device

Content of USB Mass Storage device should be thus be:

4. Put the service mode JIG/dongle/PSGrade into port 0 (closest to the reader) and get into factory service mode.

5. Put the created USB Mass Storage device from step 3 into port 0 (closest to the reader) and run.

• Drive Init Executing means it is starting the remarry process
• Drive Init Failed with big pink letters 'NG' (No Good!) means the process failed. Most likely solved by fixing the communication issue with the drive.

6. After you run the initial remarry process, do not take it out of factory service mode.

7. Put a BD movie disc in and run it on the PS3. (This restores your DRL files!)

8. Then you can take it out of factory service mode.

9. Launch as normal.

Nice to see they're still going at it, shame I can't get it to work still. While in service mode after running the remarry program, it still tells me my system is not authorize for BD playback. Anyone with some insight here?

Hello I have a couple of questions in regards to the Blu-Ray Drive Remarry Process that maybe someone can answer.

I picked up a spare CECHG01 40GB Phat PS3 Unit with a bad bluray drive and the seller provided me with the original BluRay Drive board. I got the typical error message when trying to upgrade to KMEAW 3.55 CFW without the BD Board so I connected that and I was able to upgrade successfully. I'm currently on 3.55 KMEAW CFW and loaded up Multiman and also installed some test games that I could install from a pkg. Everything works great.

Purchased a BluRay Drive from Ebay with working laser and still has a warranty and when I installed I made sure that all the cables were secure and cliped down correctly. I insert a cd and the cd indicator spins in the XMB but I get no CD indicator appear. Would this be because I haven't married the drive?

I have the Service Mode pkg installed and that works correctly and I am able to get into service mode and exit correctly. I am not sure how to execute/run the marry process when in service mode from the thumb drive once in the service mode. Keep in mind I am using a seperate thumb drive to try and execute this but am puzzled by step 5 in the instructions which states "Put the created USB Mass Storage device from step 3 into port 0 (closest to the reader) and Run" What exactly am I having to run because I goto the install package folder and no pkg's appear in there under factory service mode. Would it be the power and eject during startup prior to Service mode?

I am basically wanting to make sure that my problem is just not being able to marry the drive with the existing board or if I could possibly have a bad bluray drive and would need to return. I've heard mention of the ribbon cable being a culprit at times but I really don't beleive this to be the case. It appears connected in correctly.

With the PS3 still in Factory Service Mode, you want to have your thumb drive in port 0. Turn off the PS3, switch the off switch then back on, then press Power and Eject quickly. This will run the Remarry process. The disc drive light should flash in a series three times then stop. After this, your drive will be remarried.

This method does not work for me

I made the following steps:

1. Put the console in service/factory mode (I use ps3key for that) and turn off the console.
2. Put the USB Mass Storage with the files that are inside the file "remarry-3.55.rar" and the pup (official firmware <=3.30 ) at the root of the USB Mass Storage.
3. Put the USB Mass Storage on PS3 in the usb second port (right port - only have 2 port )
4. I turn on the console and run the script remarry. At the end gives blue mensage with success and shutdown the console
5. I remove the USB Mass Storage
6. I turn on the console
7. Place the bluray and starts automatically and after a few seconds it shows the following message: "Playback of BDs is prohibited on this system. Contact technical support for assistance."

What did I do wrong? I need help! I bought some bluray movies...

My console is:
Phat PS3 40GB
Model: CECHG04
FW: kmeaw CFW 3.55
