This is interesting.. I'm still trying to work out if it's a general snes9x issue or if its specific to this port.
Final Fantasy III (US) plays fine up until the player reaches the World Map (about 45 minutes into the game), at which point the player control input is permanently stuck as it the user is pressing 'left' on the control pad. The player can move to the right by one position, but upon releasing the dpad the player is immediately forced 'left' once more. Up and Down input does not register.
I have a save file for the game immediately prior to this if anybody wants to test it further. It is 100% repeatable.
I've tried to recreate this on Snes9x v1.51 for OSX, though it seems the memory saves (.srm) are incompatible between these versions (unsurprisingly). I've not attempted to play through the entire 45 minute sequence again, though I just might do and report back to determine if it is indeed restricted to the ps3 version of snes9x.
Of course, it could possibly be a bug in the original title... I've not seen any further evidence of this.

Okay, that wasn't so bad.. Turbo mode helps a lot indeed
Confirmed to be working on Snes9x 1.51 for OS X without issue. Looks to be an issue with the PS3 port.
If we can implement Turbo mode in the PS3 ver, this ought to make replication and regression testing much easier. I wouldn't mind playing through on the PS3 again just to be sure I didn't stumble upon a one-off problem with the original title.
