PSJailBreak 2 - PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone is Reviewed
Hello, I am going to review a PS JailBreak PS3 ModChip Clone simply called the PSJailBreak 2. This review will be detailed so I am going to criticize each aspect I find necessary.
1) Packaging
It comes in the "standard JailBreak packaging", it is good, I didn't like that they used 2 magnets for opening/closing the package...
Any magnet near any Hard-Drive or monitor will cause some damage, especially because many people would keep the package near the ps3...
Packaging Grade: 90/100
2) The Object
It is very small and compact. It is enclosed in rubber, you can completely remove the rubber and enclose it again. Funny thing is that the shape of the device is exactly same contrasted to the Official PSJailBreak banners. The "PSJAILBREAK2.TW" that is written on it is a sticker that is easily removable...
Object Grade: 80/100
3) Software
It is supplied blank which is good, but they didn't write their http://psjailbreak2.tw/ anywhere, so I wouldn't know where to get software unless I searched. There are problems with the software, as follows:
First of all, There are two types of PSJailBreak 2 "soft-updaters". One will update to JailBreak-related software and one for downgrading... The other thing is the vcredist_x86 thingy... it simply refuses to run! So after some painstaking moments, I VM'ed my XP and upgraded it there.
Software Grade: 60/100
4) Usability
The usability of the device is perfect, supports everything needed and any hex/bin can be flashed on it which is awesome...
Thanks for doing the review Luckluka, although they aren't necessary these days it's nice to know if someone did want to grab a JailBreak clone this one does the job. I have also added it to our PS3 Reviews archive now.
Any magnet near any Hard-Drive or monitor will cause some damage
Not true, unless you have an EXTREMELY powerful magnet VERY close to the HDD (or have somehow managed to get a hold of a HDD manufactured before GMR heads became standard). And the only monitors affected by magnetic fields are old CRTs, which it is... unlikely... many people are still using (specifically, the monitor is affected, because the shadow mask or aperture grill is effected). Magnets are not magical bogeymen.

What. Just a paragraph ago, you said:

So they didn't write their URL anywhere, except on huge letters on the front of the device.
I've had this exact JB for months now - never had a problem running anything using it, and like Luckluka says, it supports any bin/hex which is great if you get confused as to which one you need.
I wouldn't call them problems at all as when you use the GUI it has a dropdown box where you select what you wish to do - Flash JB, Flash bin/hex, Erase, Downgrade. I don't think that could be any clearer tbh.
Also I never had a problem with the VCRedist (on Win7 x64 Ultimate) so I think that may have been a bad experience on your part but is definitely not a user-wide experience.
Personally I would put the software up to 80-90/100 as it is easy to use, and does what it's supposed to do without fault.
Also, mine is a psjailbreak2 (same thing) and as pseudonymous stated, the website is clearly labeled along the side of the JB.
Again I would bump that rating up to 85-90/100 as the quality is great, the product is compact and if you don't like the red rubber coat then it's easily removed.
