ok maybe we can start to get some work done.

ok and just a question... i thought that ps3 firmware was specific to the console its on (ie no firmware dump form an individual console would ever be exactly the same) so would this mean that custom firmware would have to be created individually for each ps3?

But more importantly now we can start work on creating a workaround to get full RSX support in linux!

Did you guys look through the dump after you were done, make sure there was something that looked like it had to be from lvl2? Or, maybe, check to make sure there wasn't a bunch of linux memory dumped in there too?

It's easy enough to look at it. I don't understand it, but it is fun to read over. You can at least pick out items using a hex editor. 010 hex editor is what I use.

Looks like there is lots of lv0, lv1, lv2 text matches when searching for those terms. Gnome is also seen in there if searched for. Perhaps what he installed on the Other Os. lv0 3.1.5 is also seen. Perhaps his firmware version.

i do not know i lost my psp about a year and a half ago in a fire and have neglected to buy a new one or follow updates. i do know that at one point to downgrade unhacked psps you needed some spacific information from the motherboard to create the hack. maybe they do, but i dont know..

    Thumbs Up Wonderful

WOAH! These are some wonderful news! Finally someone other than Geohot managed to dump it! And someone willing to explain how it's done!!

I guess sony removing the OtherOS had some positive repercussions after all... They DID turn some, otherwise well behaved users, into hackers. I'm personally very curious about how he did it

    Cheers

Yep, it is very nice to know there are people out there like JaicraB and DemonHades who still put the scene over their own personal agendas and share as things like this are discovered.

Keep in mind though, GeoHot did this like 6+ weeks ago, so it will likely take at least that long for the rest of the PS3 scene to catch up to him probably.

Eventually it will happen though, but until then GeoHot will continue to fuel his ego I'm sure... it's rumored he is planning to make a "video" for attention in an upcoming post. Does anyone want to bet it will be a video of something he was spoonfed from xorloser (like METLDR was), and as expected GeoHot won't share any details how it was done?

Here is a quick address map with notations for interesting items. I ran over this pretty quick with the hex editor visually scanning the whole thing so it is possible I may have missed some things. However, it should help narrow down specific entries for what its worth.
    Code:
    Intersting Addresses
