PS3 HDD Map Updated, Partial User Directory Unveiled!

Recently, through reconstructing the PS3 HDD, sonyk has added some new details to the PS3 HDD Map we posted early last year.

Normally the infoboard files reside in the flash, and although it's still missing the subdirecties of user (as well as data, drm, mms, and vsh), those interested can check out the partial user directory available below:

Well actually we would hope it is an exploit!
but this is just the internal USER Directory structure of a PS3 HDD.

But then again.. i am like you (not that dev inclined ) so i'll leave the more detailed and possible uses for this up to the dev's.

I'm not picking on anyone, it just amuses me how when anything "PS3 Dev" at all is posted people jump right on the "PS3 exploit/loader/etc" wagon. I guess that is just an indication that hope is still strong if nothing else, eh?

Anyway, to clarify first a fact from the Devs on IRC: Any executable from the PS3 HDD must be signed again.

That being said, the only way this could be of use/lead to something is if a flaw/forgotten file was found then code may be able to be ran ASSUMING there is a flaw present.

For now, this is just a more detailed view of the directory contents.

The ability to copy downloaded games (they are already signed and installed on a user console) to another console in a specific user directory (another user than the first one)

Well not quite the ISO loader anybody waits for but it will be more than enough for me, I tell you!

, I take that someone would be me. Well PS3 Dev news aren't that often and you are partially right, "hope is still strong" is more like desperation

Imagine being in a car journey and always asking "Are we there yet?". Well its been a 2 year car journey and still not reached our destination

Now this is no criticism towards Devs as I know they have been trying as hard as possible and if I knew how I would help. It just seems like the PS3 is unhackable

I was referring to the first few posters actually... but not just for this thread, for any "PS3 Dev" thread posted here in general it seems there are some " OMG Where is the Exploit/Loader at?! " replies HEHE

Nothing wrong with hope though, the only part I don't care for (personally) is when people/sites overhype news like this to mislead others into thinking this is a breakthrough that will lead directly/immediately to unsigned code, PS3 backups, etc on Retail consoles.

Sadly, it just isn't that simple and the road ahead is both long and untraveled.
