... maybe a stupid question? if the ps3 has a root key.. can not this root key be dumped as well? seeing as the root key is stored on the hardware in an unencrypted form that would give us a way in?

    Infectus

Is the infectus capable of dumping any of the chips OR can we send the chips out to be dumped?? i heard that there is a board being treated as such... and that is how the new dumps came about?

The infectus only dumps the main NAND flash chips on the PS3's motherboard, and nothing else. On some newer ps3's it can not yet dump the main flashes neither.
