    [New Feature]
    < Supported a new PS3(TM) game disc format in the Game and the Video column >
    - In addition to the disc boot game, multiple installation packages and
    video/theme contents can be contained in the same PS3(TM) game disc.
    In 3.30, a new disc format that can show these additional contents
    more attractively will be supported.
    The addable content types are same, but the disc icons are unified
    into a single icon and when the icon is focused, all the contents
    within the disc will be displayed.

    <Menu of the System Software (GUI)>
    - [Settings] -> [Debug Settings] -> [NP Debug]

    When [On] is set on the System Software (GUI), and
    the sceNpTrophyGetRequiredDiskSpace() function, which obtains HDD space

    trophy registration is now displayed in the [Notification].

    - [Game] -> [Trophy Collection]

    displayed when each user is selected.

    [Specification Change]
    <Menu of the System Software (GUI)>
    - [Game] -> [Trophy Collection]

    The trophy icon name [???] that is displayed on [Game] -> [Trophy Collection]
    menu on the System Software (GUI) has been changed to [Hidden Trophy].

    <Check menu in the Game column>
    - The specifications of the check features that can be used through Game
    column -> Check menu have been changed as shown below.
    - When checking save data, if a unprotected file is contained, it
    now issues a warning.
    - When checking save data, if no protected file is contained at all,
    it now returns an error.
    - An extra content check feature has been added.
    - A motion controller check feature(libgem and parameters) has been added.
    - A region restriction check feature has been added.

    [Bug Fixes]
    <Check menu in the Game column>
    - In the Check menu in the Game column, the following bugs have been
    fixed.
    - An error "Orphan Embedded SPU found." is output for a SELF file
    that is created correctly.
    - The check feature fails for a game disc that contains a patch
    package with its DRM type set to discbind.

    <System BGM>
    - The following bugs have been fixed:

    - (B#81897,B#82213)
    The system may hang up while playing back a system BGM under the
    following conditions and when the following operations are performed.

    Conditions:

    1-1. Call a function of a specific system utility while playing
    back a BGM
    1-2. Call a function to disable a BGM playback
    1-3. Call a function to enable a BGM playback

    Or (2-1. and 2-2. can be in random order)
    2-1. The user pauses playback from the NowPlaying status.
    2-2. Call the function to disable a BGM playback
    2-3. Call a function to enable a BGM playback

    Operations:
    - Call a function of the following system utilities
    - The user selects a song from the system menu or presses the "Stop"
    or the "Pause" button on the operation panel.

    The functions to enable/disable a system BGM playback are as
    shown below.

    - Enable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlaybackEx()

    - Disable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlaybackEx()

    The functions of specific utilities are as shown below.

    - User Information utility
    cellUserInfoGetStat()
    cellUserInfoGetList()

    - AV Chat 2 utility
    cellSysutilAvc2LoadAsync()
    cellSysutilAvc2Load()
    cellSysutilAvc2UnloadAsync()
    cellSysutilAvc2Unload()

    - Music utility(playback feature)
    cellMusicInitialize()
    cellMusicInitializeSystemWorkload()
    cellMusicFinalize()
    cellMusicInitialize2()
    cellMusicInitialize2SystemWorkload()
    cellMusicFinalize2()

    - Music decode utility
    cellMusicDecodeInitialize()
    cellMusicDecodeInitializeSystemWorkload()
    cellMusicDecodeFinalize()
    cellMusicDecodeInitialize2()
    cellMusicDecodeInitialize2SystemWorkload()
    cellMusicDecodeFinalize2()

    - Recording utility
    cellRecOpen()
    cellRecClose()

    - (B#82093)
    When a function to disable a system BGM playback is called before
    a system BGM is played back by calling the function to enable a
    system BGM playback, the system BGM and a game BGM may be output
    at the same time.

    - Enable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlaybackEx()

    - Enable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlaybackEx()

    - (B#82226)
    When "Settings" -> "Debug Settings" -> "Dummy BGM Player Debug" is
    set to ON, a game application is started, and then the "Stop"
    button is pressed from the operation panel after a music content is
    selected using the system BGM feature, the system hangs up.

    - (B#85906)
    When a function to disable a system BGM playback immediately after
    a system BGM is played back from the system menu, although a function
    to enable a system BGM playback is called afterward, the system BGM
    may not be played back.

    Also, while playing back a system BGM, if the function to disable
    a system BGM playback is called immediately after a system BGM is
    played back from the system menu, although a function to enable a
    system BGM playback is called afterward, the system BGM selected
    from the system menu may not be played back(the BGM that was being
    played back before selecting is played back).

    Under the above condition, when the music playback state of the
    system BGM feature is obtained by calling the state acquisition
    function of the system BGM feature, although the state is
    "MusicPlaybackStopped", the music may be being played back.

    - Enable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilEnableBgmPlaybackEx()

    - Enable a BGM playback
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlayback()
    cellSysutilDisableBgmPlaybackEx()

    - Obtain the state of the system BGM feature
    cellSysutilGetBgmPlaybackStatus()
    cellSysutilGetBgmPlaybackStatus2()

    <librudp>
    - The following problems have been fixed.

    - (B#83084)
    When the context option CELL_RUDP_OPTION_DELIVERY_CRITICAL is set
    to 0(OFF) and CELL_RUDP_OPTION_NONBLOCK to 0(blocking), the call to
    cellRudpWrite() may not return.
    Do not use these settings if you are using an SDK version that is
    prior to SDK330.
    Note that this bug will be fixed in a future update of the system
    software.

    - (B#84657)
    Due to the inefficient send processing, the throughput was limited
    to 22 Mbps. However, starting from the system software 330, the
    send processing is improved and the throughput is now increased
    to 68Mbps.

    [Known Bugs/Restrictions]
    <Check menu in the Game column>
    - Validation of a media or the file system itself cannot be performed
    from the Check menu in the Game column.

    When submitting a master disc, make sure to verify the disc that no error
    is present using the Disc Image Generator for PlayStation(R)3 or
    the Disc Image Checker for PlayStation(R)3.

    - When using the check feature from the Check menu in the Game column,
    if the number of result files exceeds approximately 80 to 100 depending
    on each check item, the file entries of the root directory in the USB
    mass storage run out and the subsequent check result files may no
    longer be stored.
    In such case, move the check result files to another directory.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Notes
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    - The system software of the debugging station can be now downgraded
    to 3.30.
    Using this update data, you can also downgrade the system software
    version 3.X0 or later to 3.30.

    Note:
    Please refer to "5 Updating Flash Memory -> Downgrading the Flash Memory"
    of the "Reference Tool Software Setup Guide" document for more details
    on downgrading the Flash memory.

    Very cool news indeed Tommyfare and +Rep... I will be on the lookout for it to add to our Debug FW archive.

    It's funny what you can find on the internet and some places like rapidshare. Just search and search and you'll get what you want.

    I'm sorry to say that, but if you want that FW you have to search it by your own. I'm only interested in the changelog, not owning a debug, so i don't have that fw here.

    I was able to get my hands on what I believe is version 3.30 of the debug firmware (at least that's what my old coworker - who works at a big game company - told me it was). However, I cannot update my PS3 test kit from version 2.52 to this. Is anyone aware of any limitations? I'm assuming I may need to upgrade to an intermediate firmware version, but hoping someone can help me out here.

    Here are my steps:

    1. Plugged in the USB stick with the debug firmware update in the correct folder structure
    2. Select "System Update"
    3. Select "Update via Storage Media"
    4. Select "3.30 PS3UPDAT.PUP" that's listed in this menu after scanning
    5. Receive a message "Update data of version 2.16 or later can be installed on this system (8002F969)"

    And the firmware is not installed. Please help!

    I nuked the other (dupe) thread you made, but I checked and that error isn't on the PS3 Error Code List. If it was Retail Firmware on a Debug PS3 it would be Error 8002F029.

    Your best bet is probably to look at the PUP itself, or upload it for a Dev to examine. If you don't want to upload it here, you can always send it to CJPC privately via the Contact Us link.

    Sorry about the dupe and thanks for checking on the error code list.

    I'm going to have him try to get me another, older file in the next few days... but I really want access to your guys' downloads section. I'll contact CJPC privately and see if he can help. Thanks for your reply.

    The only firmware that is problematic is pre-0.96 to post-0.96 needs to go via 0.96 first. As you have a 2nd generation test kit (with only 2 USB ports), this is not the case as it only supports firmwares from 2.17 upwards (as it says) and you can upgrade to any firmware directly.

    My guess is that your friend is mistaken on the version he's given you or it's a firmware patch for the DECR (dev kit) units rather than the DECH (test kit) you have.
