    PS3 Debug Firmware 2.70 and 2.80 Leaked!

    Sponsored Links
We had a feeling it wouldn't be too long until the counterpart of the recently released PS3 Firmware 2.80 (Retail) was also available for PS3 Debug / PS3 Test users.

Those interested can grab them below, however, at this time we don't have a changelog from the leaks... should they surface though we will add it to the comments below.

Finally, if you own a PS3 Debug / PS3 Test console, be sure to drop by our PS3 Debug / PS3 Test Consoles Forum for discussion among other owners and PS3 Devs alike. Cheers!

    Download: PS3 Debug Firmware 2.70 (USA) / PS3 Debug Firmware 2.80 (USA)

Doesn't matter what "THE MAN" tells me, I'm going to attempt again at installing 2.80 DEBUG on mine.
I can get it to download 100% and it freezes there for about 30 seconds and fails, but I think there is a bug in there.

So maybe the HD swap method will work, maybe not - I'll definitely post what happens.

The "The data type is not supported. (8002F029)" error is if you install it normally, but if you use XVISTAMAN2005's HDD Swap Method then it will install with non-functional menu options basically.

For those who want to try, here are a few links to the guides:

    daisy_ppu_typeinfo.elf
    spurs_jm1.elf
    spurs_jm2.elf
    spurs_jq.elf
    spurs_kernel.elf
    spurs_ppu_typeinfo.elf

Just an overdue follow-up to the above... below is now the 2.80 changelog for the archive:
    Changes in Release 280.001
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    System Software (GUI)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    [New Features]
<Menu of the System Software (GUI)>
    - Settings column -> Debug Settings -> Game Output Sound (Debugger)

With an earlier SDK version than SDK280, a game application was
started up from the debugger in the audio format that has the
maximum number of channels of LPCM/48kHz that is set via the
"Sound Settings" of the system software.

By setting "Game Output Sound (Debugger)", game developers can now
set the audio output format of when starting up a game application
from the debugger. Thus, it is now possible to start up a game
application from the debugger in the same way as when it is started
up via the system software (GUI) menu.

    <Core Dump Feature>
    - A feature that displays the progress bar during a core dump
processing has been added. To check the progress of a core dump
processing or to estimate the time to finish, use this progress bar.

    <Development Environment>
    - It is now possible to boot a game application in the System Software Mode
from the host PC that uses the ProDG Target Manager for PLAYSTATION(R)3.
Note that the ProDG Target Manager for PLAYSTATION(R)3 that is required
to use this feature will be released in the future.

    - It is now possible to boot a game application in the Release Mode
from the host PC that uses the ProDG Target Manager for PLAYSTATION(R)3.
When booting in this mode, you can use the same memory size as the final
    test environment.

Note that the ProDG Target Manager for PLAYSTATION(R)3 that is required
to use this feature will be released in the future.

    [Bug fix]
    <System Software (GUI)>
    - (B#70287)
On the system software that appears when the PS button is pressed
during gameplay, the still image icon for Dutch was displayed as that
of for German and vice versa with disc boot games. This problem has
    been fixed.

    [Known Bugs/Restrictions]
<Check menu in the Game column>
    - Validation of a media or the file system itself cannot be performed
from the Check menu in the Game column.

When submitting a master disc, make sure to verify the disc that no error
is present using the Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION(R)3 or
the Disc Image Checker for PLAYSTATION(R)3.

    - When performing the check from the Check menu in the Game column,
if the number of result files exceeds approximately 80 to 100 depending
on each check item, the file entries of the root directory in the USB
mass storage run out and the subsequent check result files may no
    longer be stored.

In such case, move the check result files to another directory.

This can only be installed on PS3 Debug/Test consoles, the PS3 Demo units have their own Firmware updates which you can grab from here as the new ones come out:
