No, Debug Firmware on a Retail PS3 console only allows you to scroll through the XMB menu options, but none of them are functional unfortunately.

it would be interesting to know if jailbreak can stop force updates, not for online playing, but in general. for example, if killzone3 will be out with firmware 3.xx installed, will us be able to play it even with 3.41??

not just backed up games, but the ability to run unisgned code also.

Mainly because that is how most people here were raised, since the PSX days we have been able to on consoles, then PS2, DreamCast, GameCube, Xbox, PSP, Wii, XBox 360, NDS and now it's finally happening for the PS3.

I'm sure once the PS4 arrives the race will be on all over again and take 8 times as long hehe.

They mailed us back last night and said they would get it out ASAP, so I guess we'll see how fast ASAP is to them. I believe it is coming from HK, so not sure if they would even bother trying to overnight it from there to the US (doubt it, but we'll see eh?)
