    Registration error.

    Illegal Package: USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN is required.

This is under the linux SDK
The EBOOT.Bin is the open_manager.self renamed to EBOOT.BIN

Also if trying to make the pkg from command with make_package_npdrm I get this error:

    >> !ERROR!: PS3_GAME/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN is not an NPDRM SELF.
    >> !ERROR!: USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN is required.
    Illegal Package: USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN is required.

Can someone explain the compile procedure because i want to change some things in the manager ?
You have to use make_fself to make the fself ready for a package then change the fself to EBOOT.BIN and put it in the USRDIR, now make_package_npdrm should work if you have the correct param.sfo and conf files.

    @EVIL
Hi I used your Ubuntu image with VirtualBox and I was able to compile the package perfectly

    I typed in terminal

    make

    then

    make gen_pkg

then I opened the package GUI and selected PS3_game folder and type this for

    Content ID: UP0001-OMAN46756_00-0000111122223333

    clicked on MAKE

then I installed the package on my PS3 without any problems.

Anyone want to write a Windows app that copies a folder/game to a USB HDD, splitting 4GB+ files into .666xx fragments? That would be handy for copying files from USB HDD to HDD0.

I forgot to add the way I was able to package it up was this way:

    1. make
    2. make_fself_npdrm open_manager.elf EBOOT.BIN
    3. make_package_npdrm openmanager.conf PS3_GAME

    and that did the trick.

but the easiest way is just:

    1. make
    2. make gen_pkg

    As posted by dentun
it was funny because when I originally tried make gen_pkg I put make -f gen_pkg and it was spitting errors and all I had to do was drop the -f and I would have had this packaged up earlier today

    +rep to evilak & dentu

This is actually by far the best backup manager out there.. it incorporates some of the best features of all the home-brew apps released for the ps3 so far. It Copies, it Pastes, It Rips and it does it "O' So Very Well"! Its like Comgenies Awesome File Manager + Backup Manager + some other special features that are sure to come in handy. Much Props to the Developer.
