MinimusUSB Announced, Same Price as Teensy and AT90USBKey
With the release of the open-source PS JailBreak dubbed PSGroove last week, a new device known as the MinimusUSB AVR USB development unit has been announced and is said to be comparable in price to both the Teensy and AT90USBKey.
According to the official site (linked above), the device is expected to ship to distributors this coming week. This is a USB development board similar to the Teensy and the AT90USBKey.
To quote from Paul Owen: "Presenting Minimus, a high quality production grade AVR USB Development Unit that is clean in design, low in cost and readily available to resellers around the globe.
There are hundreds of projects available for the AVR USB hobbyist looking for a powerful yet cost effective solution. Works with Open Source LUFA USB firmware library and Open Source LibUSB software library. In production and shipping September 2010."
Interesting. I'm curious how many people are having issues with their Teensy? Thinking about cancelling my order for one...
Don't worry, if you have ordered it will be there soon. Paul is just... overwhelmed... by the unexpected demand for the Teensy. If you were able to order it DOES mean he has it though. He deliberately stopped taking orders because he did not want to be put in the position of taking an order for a product he does not yet have built. Since he has had no time to even count his inventory, he is erring on the side of caution by listing it as out of stock.
On his website when he says he has hired people to help him fill orders he means he has been calling in personal favors on short notice from his friends and having us all go over to his place on the labor day long weekend to stuff teensy's in boxes. He had to buy another printer just to keep up with the labels. I assure you though, if you were able to order it is indeed coming.
He's a good guy that cares about his customers, he was just taken off guard. It's like he went to the sink to get a glass of water and someone replaced the faucet with a fire hose.
Who are the distributors? I've been trying to find a cheap version or just one at all lately
