JaicraB Details PS3 RAM Dump Method for 60GB PlayStation 3
It's nice to see Spanish developer JaicraB still plugging away on hacking Sony's PS3 entertainment system, and today he has detailed how to perform his RAM dump method on a 60GB PlayStation 3 console.
Using PS3 Pulse Generator V2, it allows PS3 developers to keep the RAM dumped after rebooting the PlayStation 3 meaning no data loss is present.
To quote, roughly translated: Hello! I received a few requests on how to apply all other models. Here I put it.
Model 60-gigabyte PS3:
- Keep the RAM after the reboot, so no data loss.
- Remove the two resistors. I do not remember if it was pulled out when the double resistance or if they were single. Otherwise, you can burn. Yourselves!
That method requires physical RAM swaping... even if you could get the ram out without thawing it what would you connect it into to read it... (onboard chipsets in consoles arnt like computers everything is soldered onto the mainboard) Ultimately we need to find some way to directly dump RAM, a modchip preferably...
Also - unlike in PC - you can't simply "take the RAM out" of PS3 and plug it into another one and even if you could - lats say by putting both in the sockets first - the encryption keys would not match or something else would prohibit you to easilly access the RAM data in another PS3 etc etc. Not mentioning different type / speed of RAM in PS3 and I can go on like this for a while

First of all, the cost is not so expensive. (here in Israel its 15ils or 3.89$).
And about the "take the ram out" - you don't really need to...
I'll give you example: you run Game os, than you freez the RAM, reboot your PS3 to OtherOs and easly dump the RAM memory.
I don't see any problem, but hey, I'm not dev\hacker so maby I'm wrong.
